If you have followed a Ketogenic Diet for a longer period of time, you should end the state of ketosis slowly and step by step. For this, it is advisable to increase the number of carbohydrates by about five grams every other day until the age and weight-related “normal” recommended amount is reached. At the same time, the fat and protein intake must be adjusted.
The purpose of this "tapering off" the diet is that the metabolism can slowly change again and a yo-yo effect is avoided.
