The Ketogenic Diet is a form of low carb and is based on a high-fat and extremely low-carbohydrate diet. Due to the lack of carbohydrates, the body burns more fat as an energy supplier.

Foods containing carbohydrates such as cereal products, legumes, sugar, or ready-made meals are eliminated, but the diet consists primarily of a lot of fish and meat, dairy products, eggs, nuts, and low-carbohydrate vegetables.

The Ketogenic Diet has been shown to help reduce weight. The diet is also beneficial for type 2 diabetes patients, as it can lower insulin resistance and reduce obesity. The extreme form of nutrition is also effective for other diseases. There are no known permanent side effects of the Ketogenic Diet. During the start-up phase, you may experience digestive problems, headaches, fatigue, or sleep problems.

To counteract muscle breakdown, sufficient proteins - around 35 percent of the energy requirement - should be eaten. Weight training also helps by building muscle mass. Carbohydrates should be eaten every now and then to get your metabolism going.
